Why I Keep Building Websites and New Businesses

The thread connecting WordPress, e-commerce, directories and entrepreneurship.

For me, building a website has always been about more than the screen.

A website is a working business tool

A good website should answer a real question: what does the visitor need, and what does the business need to achieve? Attractive design matters, but performance, clarity, trust and enquiries matter too.

Different projects, shared principles

My work has included WordPress websites, WooCommerce shops, directories and specialised online platforms. Each presents different technical problems. The common work is to understand the audience, organise information and remove unnecessary friction.

Why I enjoy troubleshooting

Sometimes the most valuable job is not building something new. It is fixing a slow website, repairing a broken checkout, improving a product catalogue or making a confusing form easier to use. These changes are often less glamorous than a redesign, but they can have a direct impact on a business.

Experience beyond the web

Years spent in business, finance, kitchen design and other industries influence how I approach digital work. I tend to think about the entire customer journey rather than treating a website as a standalone design exercise.

What comes next

I continue to experiment with ideas and build practical digital tools. Some become businesses; others teach me something useful. The attraction has always been the same: turning a complicated idea into something people can actually use.
